MOUNTDOWN HOUSE
The project brief was to adapt and extend an existing house to meet the needs of a growing family along with the medium to long term needs of caring for a wheelchair bound family member with severe intellectual and physical disabilities. It was important that the layout of the house encouraged close interaction between family members while at the same time allowing for the needs of caring and personal space. Careful attention was paid, not only to specific needs, but also to access to the house, the arrangement of accomodation within the house and circulation between the rooms. The Project won the RIAI Universal Design Award 2014.
